Saddle Forecast Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 19, 2026
This policy is from the developer of Saddle Forecast (“we”, “us”). It explains what information the app uses, where it goes, and the choices you have. It covers the Saddle Forecast iPhone app, the Apple Watch app, and their widgets, complications, and Siri shortcuts.
The short version
- We don’t run any servers, and we don’t collect, see, sell, or share your personal information.
- Your settings stay on your own devices.
- To get a forecast, the app sends your location (the coordinates of the zip code you enter) to Apple’s Weather service. It does not use your device’s GPS.
- If you allow it, the app reads your cycling workouts from Apple Health on your iPhone to learn when you usually ride. That information never leaves your device.
- There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs.
Information the app uses
Your ride preferences
During setup and in Settings you enter a US zip code, your comfortable temperature range, wind and gust limits, maximum chance of rain, the sky conditions you’ll ride in, your usual ride time and length, and whether you need daylight.
These are stored only on your devices, in storage shared between the app, its widgets, and its extensions. Your iPhone sends a copy to your paired Apple Watch over Apple’s private connection between the two devices so the watch can check the weather by itself. We never receive them.
Your location
The app does not ask for or use your device’s location (GPS). It only uses the zip code you type in. To look up the weather, the app:
- Sends your zip code to Apple’s geocoding service to turn it into a place name and approximate coordinates.
- Sends those coordinates to Apple WeatherKit to get the forecast.
Both of these are Apple services. Apple’s handling of those requests is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy. Apple states that location sent to WeatherKit is used only to provide the forecast and is not linked to your Apple ID.
The most recent forecast and recommendation are saved on your device so widgets and the watch can show them without waiting for a new download.
Apple Health (optional)
If you turn on “Learn from Apple Health,” the app asks permission to read your workouts. It looks at your cycling workouts (start times, durations and whether they were outdoors) to suggest the times you usually ride on weekdays and weekends, and it may use new cycling workouts to notice when you’ve finished a ride.
- The app never writes anything to Apple Health.
- Health data is read on your iPhone only and is never sent off your device, to us, or to anyone else.
- The app keeps only what it needs: the suggested ride times you choose to accept, and a bookmark that lets it tell new workouts apart from ones it has already seen. It does not keep a copy of your workouts.
- Health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining, and is never sold or disclosed to third parties.
- You can turn this access off at any time in the Health app (Sharing > Apps > Saddle Forecast) or in iPhone Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices.
Purchases (Saddle Forecast Pro)
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple ID, or payment details. The app asks Apple’s StoreKit whether your device has an active Pro subscription and stores the answer (whether Pro is active and when it expires) on your devices, including your Apple Watch, so Pro features unlock there too.
Apple shares aggregated, non-identifying sales reports with us through App Store Connect, as it does for every developer.
Notifications (optional)
If you allow notifications, the app can send you a daily ride call, an alert when the day’s verdict changes, and a question about how your ride went. You can turn each one on or off in the app’s Settings. These notifications are created on your device from your own preferences and forecast; nothing is sent to us or to a notification server. Your answers to “How was your ride?” are stored only on your device.
Siri and Shortcuts
When you ask Siri whether to ride or run the app’s shortcut, the app answers using the same on-device preferences and forecast described above. Your voice request is handled by Apple under Apple’s Siri privacy terms.
Crash reports
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone or Apple Watch settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. These do not identify you. You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
What we don’t do
- We don’t have accounts or sign-in.
- We don’t collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, or device location.
- We don’t use advertising, analytics, or tracking tools, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
- We don’t sell or share personal information.
Keeping or deleting your information
Everything the app stores lives on your devices. Deleting the app from your iPhone and Apple Watch deletes it. You can also change or clear your preferences in the app at any time, and revoke Health access as described above. Because we don’t hold any of your information, there is nothing for us to delete on our side, but you’re welcome to contact us with any request.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, or the EU and UK), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal information. Since the app doesn’t send your information to us, we generally have nothing to provide, but you can contact us to make any request and we will respond.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling information differently, for example if a future version sends data to an online service, we will update this policy and change the effective date above before that version is released. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
